Downloading Videos

If you have a computer with plenty of memory and good graphics, you may want to enter the wonderful world of downloading videos. From free video to sites that allow you to download video for a fee, there are many options to feed your video hunger.  

Free video sites encourage users to create and upload their own videos. Most of these videos are available for video download. There are several things to keep in mind when you download video clips or when downloading music videos.  

First, you should be sure your computer memory is sufficient to store these videos on your machine. Video takes up a lot of space on your machine and older computers are not going to cut it in this brave new world. Secondly, you should consider your connection.  

If you are connected to the internet via dial-up, you may or may not be able to download your favorite funny video. The download may stall or stop before the video is downloaded. If it does not stop, the download will take hours on dial-up. The faster your connection, the sooner you can have your video download.

Downloading videos also poses the problem of long-term storage. If you pay for and own a video, you do not want to lose it. But you can only store so many videos on your computer before you run out of space and standard flash drives are often too small to store a video – especially if the video is a full length movie! 

Before you begin to build your library, plan for the additional storage and figure out how you want to catalogue and organize your videos so you always know where to find them. If you are downloading a funny video or downloading music videos for free, you may wish to view them and then delete them. If you did not pay for the download, you can always find it and download it again if you want to show it someone else or view it again. This will save space on your computer.  

Downloading video can be fun and addictive so be sure you know what you are getting yourself into before you overwhelm your computer. With all that valuable video on your machine, you wouldn’t want to suffer a crash!
